Important Announcement | Global Fact 7 goes fully virtual

We regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel this year's Global Fact conference in Oslo due to the ongoing restrictions and travel advisories and the public health concerns in organizing such a large scale event in late June.

This decision was not taken lightly and we tried to see until the very last minute to see if the situation would show some signs of change for the next couple of months but given the circumstances, we decided to prioritize health over the execution of this year's Global Fact. Our partners in Oslo, Faktisk.no and the Oslo Met University have put so much effort on this and we all share the sadness of making this tough but necessary decision. It was amazing to see that more than 400 people have confirmed their participation in this year's planned conference and it was going to push the bar higher in our quest to make Global Fact conferences better every year.

However, in the next couple of weeks, we will be announcing a fully virtual Global Fact 7 setting with a number of sessions, discussions, networking events, and additional teaching opportunities to make sure we keep showing the world that fact-checking is growing and we keep learning from each other. We are very excited to organize the first-ever fully virtual Global Fact with the best available technical capacity and wide participation.

Please stay tuned for the upcoming announcement(s) for the Virtual Global Fact 7

Further announcements will follow on next year's Global Fact (June 2021) and additional measures to keep the fact-checking community thrives on getting together both in online and in-person capacity.

Please kindly make sure you communicate with your accommodation & travel providers to avoid any cancellation fee. Our negotiated hotels had flexibility for cancelation and hope this will help you to control any financial burden on your shoulders.

Best Regards,
